Layla's Funk (Slideshow Video)

Late on in 2008, a film company asked Jamie to contribute a piece of instrumental music to a film soundtrack.  They wanted something funky, but made it clear that they did not want "nice" funk - but something more in your face and groovy but cool like Bootsy Collins might record.  Jamie jumped at the challenge to try something new.  The director loved the track, but unfortunately the film was scrapped, and has never been made.  Far from being wasted time though, Jamie now had an opening track for the "Return To Bass" album.  Listen closely to the track and you will hear the only vocal on the whole album, supplied by Layla Mallender - only a few weeks old at the time.

The Bass Player Answers Back (Slideshow Video)

Cancellation of a 3 month USA tour with the Tony Martin Band in July 2009 left Jamie temporarily out of work and not in the best of moods.  To take his mind off this unfortunate situation he poured all his anger and frustration into a new instrumental track.
